Our Tips for Enjoying a Pet Friendly Holiday in Cornwall

Planning a holiday to Cornwall with your dog? Excellent choice! With its captivating coastline, scenic walks and welcoming atmosphere, Cornwall is one of the UK’s top destinations for pet-friendly travel for good reason.

But before you pack the lead and treats, it’s worth knowing a few key tips to make the most of your stay, especially if you’re staying at a pet-friendly campsite in Cornwall.

Here’s how to keep tails wagging and stress low during your Cornish getaway.

Choose the Right Pet Friendly Holiday Park

Not all campsites are created equal when it comes to dogs. At Tregarton Park, we welcome up to two dogs per pitch ( for a small extra charge) and provide facilities to make your stay comfortable and stress-free.

We’ve even built a dog patio area with shade so you can relax with your dog near the pool complex. Add in our dedicated dog exercise field and spacious pitches, and you’ve got one of the most thoughtfully designed pet friendly holiday parks in Cornwall.

Know the Rules

Wherever you stay, it’s essential to follow the park’s pet policies. At Tregarton Park, dogs must be:

  • Kept on a short lead at all times
  • Not left unattended on the park
  • Cleared up after: we provide dog waste bins to help keep the site clean

Dogs are not allowed inside shared facilities like the swimming pool, shop, cafe complex, toilets, showers, or launderette. These rules help ensure a safe, hygienic, and peaceful stay for everyone.

Research Dog-Friendly Beaches

Cornwall’s coastline is wonderful, but not all beaches are dog-friendly all year round. Some have seasonal restrictions, especially in summer. Before heading out, check local signs or Cornwall Council’s beach guide to avoid surprises. Some great year-round dog-friendly beaches near Tregarton Park include Hemmick Beach and Vault Beach.

Pack Smart for Your Dog

Don’t forget the essentials, such as:

  • A collapsible water bowl
  • Dog towel
  • Poop bags
  • Long line lead (for the beach)
  • Vaccination and vet records (just in case)
  • A familiar blanket or toy to help your dog feel at home

Respect Other Campers

Even in a pet-friendly campsite in Cornwall, not every guest will be a dog lover. Keep barking to a minimum, clean up after your dog, and give other campers space. This goes a long way toward maintaining a friendly atmosphere.

A pet-friendly holiday in Cornwall can be a fantastic experience, especially when you base yourself at a welcoming, family-run campsite like Tregarton Park. With the right planning, you and your four-legged companion can enjoy all the best that the south west has to offer.
