Seeking a Campsite Near Beautiful Beaches in Cornwall? Stay Close to the Coast at Tregarton Park

If you are searching for campsites in Cornwall near beaches, this is just another box ticked by Tregarton Park!

Based on the South Cornwall coast, we are close to several beautiful beaches, including Porthluney Cove, Gorran Haven Beach and Vault Beach, making our park a great base for beach days, coastal walks and relaxing camping holidays.

Set in 12 acres near Mevagissey, our touring and camping park offers a tranquil setting within easy reach of the sea.

Whether you are planning a short break or a longer holiday, we aim to give you a comfortable place to unwind while exploring some of the most scenic coastline in Cornwall.

Why is it always worth being near the beach in Cornwall?

Put simply, Cornwall has some of the most breath-taking beaches in the UK. Naturally, most campers want to make the most of it.

A beach holiday in Cornwall is much easier when you stay somewhere close to the coast. Instead of spending too much time travelling, you can enjoy slower mornings, spontaneous beach trips and relaxed evenings back at your pitch.

Staying near the beach also gives you more choice. You can head out for a swim, take a picnic, walk part of the coastal path, visit a harbour village or simply sit and enjoy the sea air. If you’re visiting with family, it means sandy days out are never far away. For couples and walkers, it gives easy access to quiet coves and coastal scenery.

At Tregarton Park, we are well placed for all of this. Our campsite is close to several beaches, while still offering a peaceful setting away from the busiest tourist spots.

Beaches close to our campsite

One of the main reasons guests choose our park is our wonderful location. We are within a short drive of some lovely Cornish beaches, each with its own character.

  • Porthluney Cove, around 1.7 miles away, is a beautiful sandy beach next to Caerhays Castle and Gardens. It has parking, toilets, a shop and a café, making it a practical choice for a family beach day. Dogs are allowed on the beach throughout the year, which is useful for guests planning days out with their four-legged friends. Since we’re a pet-friendly campsite, your dog can also stay with us and make the most of that sea air!
  • Gorran Haven Beach, around 2.2 miles away, is set in a charming fishing village with a sheltered cove and golden sand. It is known as one of the safer beaches in the county, making it a popular choice for families. Facilities are close by, and the village itself is a lovely place to explore.
  • Vault Beach, around 2.5 miles away, is a more natural, sheltered beach on the eastern side of Dodman Point. It has a mix of sand and shingle and gently slopes into the sea. It is a good option if you prefer a quieter beach with a more rugged feel.

A peaceful base for camping in Cornwall

At Tregarton Park, we offer a relaxing haven for guests who want to recharge, explore and enjoy the coast. We are privately owned and personally cared for by the Hicks family, who have looked after the park for over 29 years.

We take pride in keeping our park clean, friendly and efficiently run. Our aim is simple: to help make your stay happy, easy and memorable.

Because we are near Mevagissey and only a short drive from St Austell, our location works well for guests who want both coast and convenience. You can enjoy beach days, visit local attractions, explore fishing villages and return to a peaceful park at the end of the day.

Excellent facilities to enjoy during your stay

As well as being close to the beach, we offer facilities to help you make the most of your holiday. At the heart of our park is our outdoor heated swimming pool, which is heated to at least 84°F.

Our pool complex has been redeveloped using granite paving and natural Cornish walling stone, creating a smart and relaxing space for guests. There is a sunbathing terrace, outdoor seating, an eating terrace with parasols, plus table tennis and a pool table.

For 2026, our swimming pool is open from 1st May until 25th September. During school holidays, it opens daily from 10am until 8pm, and at other times from 10am until 6pm, unless the weather is particularly poor.

Please note that there is no lifeguard on duty, and children under 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult. Dogs are not allowed within the pool complex.

So, is Tregarton Park a good choice for a camping holiday near the sea?
